The Gulfshore Holiday Hoopfest returns to Golden Gate High School for its 3RD year. Teams from all over Florida will be in attendance along with teams from Illinois, Tennessee, and local teams Naples, Community School, Immokalee, Gulf Coast, Bishop Verot, First Baptist and host Golden Gate. GGHS Athletic Director Pete Seitz, GGHS Teacher Tim Estes, and a group of local community partners are the Hoopfest’s directors. The 16 team tournament will take place December 27-30, 2014 and all games will take place in the Titan Gymnasium at Golden Gate High School.

Last years’ Hoopfest proved to be a great four days of basketball, with local team First Baptist Academy winning in the championship game against, host school, Golden Gate who went on to win their district championship and make first Elite 8 appearance in school history. As was the case in the previous years, local teams from Collier County will be invited to play, as well as teams from around the state of Florida and beyond. The goals of the Holiday Hoopfest are straight forward:

  • promote high school boys basketball in Collier County;
  • create a competitive holiday tournament for all teams involved;
  • raise funds for student-athletes at Golden Gate High School (80% economically needy)
